Prepare to be amazed!

Prepare to be amazed!

Why on earth would a woman with 2 jobs and 2 kids and 6 pets be writing a blog? I mean seriously, don’t I have enough to do? So many things happen in my life that make me tilt my head like a confused puppy and stare in blank wonder at the stunning shock of it all – seems like sharing some of that shock and amazement with the world might be fun 8) And besides… my client told me to and I am essentially bound to obey any reasonable command she issues me. Thanks for this one, Ms. L πŸ™‚

well it’s been a long time, been a long time, been a long, …..

Pretty weird how many things have changed since the last time I wandered around this site… I’m painting all the time – at least twice a week… traveling more and more, though it almost seems like I’m experiencing less… strange.

The Art Village is my regular home now, and I love being surrounded by Β creative people… and of course, we have all the crazy you would expect to go hand in hand with all that creativity πŸ™‚

It seems like now is a great time to get back into writing, and as always, it’s such a great way to get out of your own head and look at life from a new perspective. So – thanks for being there – WordPress, and the internet, and any human individuals who might still be with me here lol… I do so like my words.

So this is a photo of a bracelet given to me on my lil DMB tour earlier this month. Today I started physical therapy. I mention this because, as so often has happened to me since loving this band, I had one of those really cool “coincidences” happen.

As I was having my evaluation (being done by a remarkably good looking young man by the way, all kinds a tall and blonde and cute…) he notices my bracelet and says “oh did you go to that show?” I say “Yeah. Every year :)” he tells me his dad works there. He works concert security so he gets to go to shows for his job. I take a deep breath and my eyes get all wide… I say “I bet you anything your dad is the awesome security guard who I love! Is he a really big tall guy witha moustache?” He smiles and says “yup! They call him Big John!” holy crap security guy who I have loved for years is my therapist’s dad. It is this guy “Big John” who walked us into the venue this year. This guy walking us in is the ONLY reason I made it to the rail this year. Despite being one of the first people there last year, because of my sciattic nerve pain… when they opened the gates everyone ran past me. I could not keep up. This year, after being asked to help us in for safety – when I thanked Big John at the gate he actually said to me “I was there at the Who. I remember what happened.” I FREAKING LOVE THIS GUY!!!

And now his uber handsome son is handling my recovery πŸ™‚ amazing stuff. It is such a small world even though Florida is such a big state πŸ™‚ I love the way this band draws me into circles of connection. More and more lately πŸ™‚

I love this music. I love this band. I love this life πŸ™‚
Thanks for reading!

DMB Florida 2013 part one

DMB Florida 2013 part one

So yeah… AMAZING time on my trip. When I go to a Dave Matthews Band show I already feel like I am having a religious experience… but this year I was taken to an all new level. Interesting that the day of my first show started with me and my friend Melissa doing a chakra balancing meditation – while sitting on the side of the road chilling waiting for them to let us in to the venue. We got out our camp chairs and we made ourselves comfy. I got out my computer and we went through this guided meditation that grounds you and balances your chakras (for real). Mel and I knew our energy was over the top. We were both about to become the most annoying females on Earth…

After this meditation, we decided to take up a collection for the cool lady who let us set up camp on her property. She came out and asked us what we were up to – we told her we were waiting for Dave πŸ™‚ She clearly thought we were adorable (about 20 of us in 8 or so vehicles) and she allowed us to stay. So Mel says we should get some money for them. I said good call – and went around and collected from everyone a couple dollars. I went to this woman and handed her the $20 or so that we had gathered. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and said “Thank you so much! Now I can buy milk! I have a 15 year old…he’s always hungry! We really needed this today!” I told her how grateful we were to have a safe, no hassle place to relax and keep our spot at the gate for entry to the General Admission Pit area… I told her to have a blessed day. But I felt blessed. Both by having this day of Dave and this weekend of DMB yet to come… but blessed to be part of THIS person’s happy moment. We were there for our love of that band… and our love of each other… and from that foundation this total stranger has her path crossed and feels the love that we all share with each other.

And I feel blessed. Totally. And so grateful for the music that changed my life and the friends that music has brought to me. Thanks Dave ❀

I have obsession issues… so sue me!

I have obsession issues... so sue me!

So I am feeling an overwhelming sense of loss this week fueled both by couch tour and by my own lack of self control.

the simple truth is I have an obsessive personality. When I find something I like I dive in full speed. So dating has been mainly a joke, as I mentioned previously.

However last weekend I went out with a man… a man who thinks like I think …I think. I don’t know because I did not take the time to get to know him. When I met up with him I knew it was a bad idea… I was so tired and it was a far drive… when I got there I waited for him at the bar for a while and had a big drink on an empty stomach…

He was so handsome. So sexy. So sweet. SO smart… I fell in an instant. I went back to his place with him to watch a movie… and one thing led to another…so fast it was ridiculous. I was so fast it was ridiculous. He wanted me to stay the night but in my shame I panicked and left…

Here is what I do: Long alone now, all the first dates that go no where… this is the second time in 2 years that I have had a sexual encounter with someone. It is preposterous how someone with my libido remains celibate almost entirely while searching for a lover I can enjoy… and then when I find him… I’m so starved for affection that I just cave at the first touch. I go a year without sex only to make myself look even more slutty than I used to ACTUALLY BE.

And of course… now he’s not calling and my heart aches from my own stupidity and lack of self control. But this is only half of my issue.

The other half is “Davepression” plain and true. Davepression is a condition caused by “couch tour”. When you watch the setlists being played by the band at all the amazing venues around the country that YOU personally can not afford to travel to… places like Alpine Valley, my favorite venue – hometown back in the day πŸ™‚ Watching the amazing set lists roll in and seeing everyone’s photos on facebook!!!! Couch tour is painful! You try to be positive and be glad your best friend in another state got to hear Halloween but really – I NEED A SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So instead of crying about it (which I have a teeny bit… some wandering tears brought by music or words…) I went out and got some bigger canvases and a brand new box of acrylic paints.

Art is the greatest weapon I have against depression, against myself and the darkness that wants to eat my spirit sometimes… hell no. I won’t go down like that no more πŸ˜‰ So I will paint, I will sing, I will dance… and the freedom in my heart gonna spread all around until my spirit flies free.

Seeking a balanced partner…

Seeking a balanced partner...

So it occurs to me that I have not taken the time to blog about a first date yet. First dates have become a hobby for me. My most recent first date left me with the distinct impression that I had managed to find yet another undiagnosed Asperger. I have a knack for it.

Truly I think that what’s happening here is I had been lied to so much in my last relationship. He lied all day all night… I now question every statement ever made… and Aspie’s have an inability to lie (or at least they are unable to lie well) – and I think I find that refreshing.

So this latest – I have been talking to this fellow for a couple of months online on a popular free dating site that is “ok” with me πŸ˜‰ and it seemed to me like we had a lot in common. But there were a few red flags. 1) he is out of work. boooo – but I hate to judge, I’ve been out of work… 2) his car is broken, so I have to drive to his town to see him but he can’t drive out to my town to see me… hmmmmmmmm. OK so I finally decide based on his photography – which is quite good – and his words, which I was liking – that I would drive out to his town and meet him for coffee. he needed me to pick him up. hmmmph… I did. We went for coffee… we talked… very nice and all. BUT he was doused in a river of axe body spray that nearly triggered an asthma attack and his breath literally smelled like cat poo.

A sad turn of events. And to top it all off yeah he had several of the earmarks of high functioning autism that I have become accustomed to ferreting out among the general population of online daters.

The search continues!

Daily Prompt: Success!

Daily Prompt: Success!

So my most recent hope realized is getting my ticket confirmations for Dave Matthews Band summer tour. Now the fact is – if money and time were no object – I would hit that whole tour. I would go to every show and dance until I dropped in every town they played all summer long. However – I live in a world with bills and responsibilities… and so I am grateful to get the three shows i attend every summer in Florida.

So I got my ticket confirmations and I am very happy that I will once again be in the GA pit for Tampa! Success! This is a very long day, mind you. If you actually want to be “on the rail” as they say, you have to be one of the first 40 people waiting for them to open that gate to the GA Pit… and then ya gotta out run the herd!!!

This photo is from last year – I am in it – three people deep from the rail. You can see me over the right shoulder of my buddy with the mighty beard. That was the best I could manage after being one of the first 20 people in line that day. Last year my body was weak. I had pain everywhere from celiac disease… This year I am gluten free and have lost another 30 pounds or so since last year. This year I shall lead the stampede. This year I WILL be on the rail.
